Phase IV : Campaigning for elections to end on Tuesday

Campaigning will end on Tuesday for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections. Voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 7. 

 

1,315 candidates including 119 women are in the battle for the fourth phase of elections that will witness polling to 85 Lok Sabha seats. An estimated number of 9.46 crore voters are expected to cast their votes on May 7 and nearly 1.29 lakh polling stations have been set up for the elections. 

 

These polling stations will be safeguarded by 6.5 lakh polling personel and 1,34,267 control units. 1,71,902 ballot units of EVMs will be pressed into service. 

 

The Election Commission has recognised about 12,048 villages and hamlets as susceptible to intimation of voters in the fourth phase. 

 

The EC has also particularly identified about 60,405 individuals who can create disturbance in the fourth round of Lok Sabha elections. 

 

The polling would be held from 7am-5pm except for four assembly segments that include Masauri and Paliganj in Patliputra LS constituency in Bihar and Islampur and Hilsa in Nalanda parliamentary constituency, where polling will be held from 7am-3pm.
