India TV Exit Polls : Congress projected ahead

The Congress-led UPA has been projected to have an edge over NDA and others in the Lok Sabha elections which are expected to produce a highly-fractured verdict.

India TV along with C Voter  on Wednesday evening telecast the first exit polls of the current Lok Sabha polls. The exit poll projections show the Congress-led UPA may get  195 seats in a range of 189 to 201, while the RJD-SP-LJP combine may get 32, and with their support the UPA may get a grand total of 227, in the range of 217 to 237. Thus the ruling alliance will be 45 short of the magic mark 272 in the next Lok Sabha, the exit polls say.

On the other hand, the NDA may get 189 seats within a range of 183 to 195 seats, while the Third Front led by the Left parties, BSP and AIADMK may get 113 seats in a range of 105 to 121.  Others may get 11 to 14 seats only.

The exit poll projections give Congress the largest number of seats 152, closely followed by BJP at 143.
