Himachal Pradesh: Virbhadra Singh Takes Oath as Chief Minister

Congress leader Virbhadra Singh was sworn in as Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister for a sixth term in Shimla on Tuesday. Governor Urmila Singh administered the oath of office to the septuagenarian, who has been chief minister for more than 16 years, in Shimla.

 

Congress won 36 out of 68 Constituencies in Himachal Pradesh. The 78-year-old took oath as the hill state's 13th chief minister in the presence of thousands of his supporters. He first assumed office April 8, 1983, replacing Thakur Ram Lal.
