CWC met to form new Govt

The Congress core group had a meeting on Sunday for the discussion of the political situations and issues related to the formation of the new Govt followed by the performance of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) in the Lok Sabha elections.

According to the party sources, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, her Political Secretary Ahmed Patel and Defence Minister A K Antony, attended the strategy meeting, held at Seven Race Course Road.

In this first high-level meeting, top Congress leadership discussed on taking the support of the Independents or parties of the Fourth Front like Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal to form the Government.

The UPA is running short of 12 seats to reach the majority mark of 272 in the Parliament.

The next meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) is scheduled to take stock of the situation followed by the poll results. The party's leadership would hold discussions with the allies to finalize the details of Government formation post the CWC meeting.
