Bypoll: HJC, JDU, BJP,TRS win

Kuldeep Bishnoi of the Haryana Janhit Congress (Bhajan Lal) won the Hisar Lok Sabha by-elections defeating his nearest rival Ajay Singh Chautala of the Indian National Lok Dal by 6323 votes. Bishnoi was also supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).


Congress candidate Jai Prakash was a distant third despite his party being in power in the state. Jai Prakash (58) is a former Union minister and three-time MP from Hisar. He had won the seat in 2004 Lok Sabha elections as Congress nominee.


TRS candidate Srinivas Reddy on Monday won the Banswada Assembly by-poll in Telangana by a majority of 48,000 votes.


Janata Dal (United) retained the Daraundha Assembly seat in the by-poll defeating the Rashtriya Janata Dal by 20,092 votes. Kavita Kumari of the JD (U) won the seat defeating RJD candidate Parmeshwar Singh.


Maharashtra's ruling Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was on Monday defeated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena combine in the keenly contested Khadakwasla assembly byelection.


The BJP's Bhimrao Tapkir, supported by all the opposition parties, trounced his main rival, the Nationalist Congress Party's Harshada Wanjale, by a margin of over 4,000 votes.
