The streets are witnessing a demand that the government's Lok Pal Bill be replaced by the Jan Lok Pal Bill (JLP) as drafted by the team led by Anna Hazare. There are several significant differences between the two bills. In this note, we describe the some of these differences.
A lot of things has happened since my last blog. Election results are already announced. Congress led coalition has got majority. I had a sigh of relief not that I died hard Congress support. It’s because we would have a very stable government and with very honest Prime minister for next 5 years.
During these hard times it was absolutely needed and people showed what they want. They want stable and good governance. Congress has got this opportunity and let’s hope it does not disappoint us.
On Tuesday Prime Ministerial candidate of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) LK Advani targeted Congress saying that the party has no culture of sharing power. Advani said it was the BJP that shared power with other parties at the centre, while addressing a rally in favor of the BJP candidate I.D. Swami in Haryana district.
Indian media again did what it should not. It has created a new leader for the BJP and for the Hinduithava factions , with out any help from the BJP. They have managed single handily made a big issue of a small speech give in a remote place to a national importance, and all the "News" channels and websites has been covering "drama" almost on priority.
The great game of rice has been begun. First Congress promised 25kg of rice or wheat at Rs 3 a month for every family below the poverty line. Now BJP looks to respond with a similar scheme with food grain for the poor at even cheaper rates.
It may eat up to Rs 5000 crore of tax payers money and if BJP comes with a lower price then even harder hit. Well its not there money so they don’t have hesitation to spend any money. How many of them spend even a penny of their legitimate earnings for similar good cause.
Often we Indians wonder why we should vote. The sole reason of this question is due to our distrust in our leaders. This question haunts most of us whenever we think about voting. It often ends in not voting at all. This is not a good solution as we waste our right to choose. We need to find answer ourselves. We can blame politicians for the mess, while we didn’t choose right.
